Riverside Federal Bankruptcy Court Moves to Zoom Chapter 7, 11 & 13
The U.S. Trustee Program is introducing a new regulation requiring that all hearings and meetings for Chapter 7, 12, and 13 cases filed in the Central District of California be conducted exclusively via Zoom. This mandate applies to debtors, creditors, and their attorneys. Soon, there will no longer be telephonic hearings or Meetings of Creditors, and all these meetings will move to a Zoom call with all parties using Zoom to attend.
The new guidelines will require clients and attorneys to learn how to connect to a Zoom meeting, the new rules for participating in Zoom meetings, and how to verify the identity of debtors. These new guidelines come from the United States Bankruptcy Court Central District of California and are meant to standardize the bankruptcy hearing process. The new Zoom standard will affect The meeting of Creditors for Chapters 7 and Chapter 13 as well as the confirmation meetings for Chapter 13 and any other hearings during your bankruptcy case.

Chapter 12 Bankruptcy
Specifically designed for "family farmers" or "family fishermen," Chapter 12 bankruptcy provides debt relief closely resembling Chapter 13 but is tailored to meet the unique needs of farmers and fishermen. This type offers more flexibility in the plan to adjust debts, considering the seasonal nature of agricultural or fishing income. In California, eligible filers can restructure their finances through a repayment plan over three to five years, allowing them to keep their operations running while managing their debts.Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is designed for individuals who make too much income to pass the means best and instead must establish a manageable three to five-year repayment plan. In California, debtors propose a repayment plan to make installments to creditors over three to five years, depending on their income level. This chapter benefits those behind on mortgage or car payments, allowing them to catch up on arrears through the plan and restructure other debts.
